Meet the characters of THE HEART OF THE ROSE
& hear their voice

ROBIN HOOD – Robin is bold, athletic and a natural, charismatic leader. However, he is a man without real power; the power to shape his life. He is constantly overtaken by events, denied the chance to find his place. Only when he has lost everything, his reason to love and his reason to hate, does he finally discover the truth. IT LIVES IN ME THE FINAL POWER

HENRY DE FACOMBERY – Facombery is typical of the privileged Norman elite. He seldom, if ever, spares a thought for the plight of the Saxon peasants. But although he is arrogant, ruthless and ambitious, he is an accomplished soldier who fights without fear. CAN YOU IMAGINE
GLITZY QUEEN

MARIAN – Marian is from a relatively prosperous background; cultured and educated. However, she is also a skillful warrior in her own right. She is beautiful, but her beauty is one of depth and mystery, for within her there exists a spiritual awareness, which defies isolation. Unlike Robin, she has the power to alter the course of fate. AWAKE I DREAM THE HEART OF THE ROSE

ELIZABETH DE STAYNTON – Elizabeth is undeniably sensual, although after her failure with Robin and humiliation at the hands of Marian, she is consumed with bitterness and controlled rage. However, we are left with the feeling that without her jealousy, she may have been as loyal as she became treacherous. LOST IN THE SHUFFLE SO CLOSE (reprise)

THOMAS OF LANCASTER – Unlike many of his fellow barons, Lancaster is a man of deep principles. He has an almost fatherly concern for his tenants, who have in turn come to trust and admire him. But although he is wise, Lancaster is something of a dreamer, his actions guided by unrealistic expectations. ANCIENT ANTLERS WHISPERS IN MY HEAD

FRIAR TUCK – Tuck is a charitable man, with much sympathy for the suffering of others. As a Franciscan friar he is a devout Christian, although he has no problem co-existing with older traditions. However, disillusionment with the established Church eventually leads to a loss of faith.
THE PERFECT DREAM

LITTLE JOHN – John’s greatest asset is his loyalty to Robin and his friends, a bastion of strength on which all can lean. He has the countenance of emotional power. Although lacking Robin’s agility, John is by far the stronger of the two men. In fact, it is he who prepares the way for Robin’s leadership. SLEEPING ON THE FOREST FLOOR
